Have
you always been artsy, a bit weird, you know the kid who sat in the corner and
drew on his note pad, or the one who preferred to play the guitar at home
instead of hanging out with other kids? If you have a creative hack then being
a Creative Entrepreneur or Creativpreneur might be the path for you.
I
started on this journey in 2019 to eventually become self -published Author on
Amazon despite several challenges. I now have several books available in book
stores in Australia, New Zealand, USA, UK and elsewhere. This is quite a significant
achievement if you know what we have to go through in Papua New Guinea to
achieve this. I will share with you what I have learnt so far so you so the you
too can become inspired to become a creativpreneur
What is a
Creativepreneur?
According
to www.urbandictionary.com, a
creativepreneur is an entrepreneur who builds a business around a personal
mission, passion or purpose and runs it from creative principles, using digital
teams, tools, and tribes to expand influence. This basically refers to an
artistic or a creative individual who can through his or her art use the
internet to sell his or her products and connect with others.
What are Creative Industries?
So
what exactly are creative industries, these constitute 16 distinct industries
including:

  promoted | Huge potential

What Creative
Industries could work for PNG?
For
any artsy person these categories are self-explanatory, in Papua New Guinea
there is so much potential but in reality our options are limited. The lack of
Government support through grants, negative publicity on tourism, lack of
Government support to Museums, Libraries, Cultural events and Cultural Centres.
Hence, I will share what has worked for me and what I believe could work for
PNG in the following areas in future blog posts.
Ø  Visual Art
Ø  Crafts
Ø  Fashion and
textiles
Ø  Photography
Ø  Film and video
Ø  Writing and
publishing
Ø  Cultural heritage
